Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?: SharePoint 2010

Issue: A Client of mine has used some external reference of the sites in his SharePoint site collection and sub-site, when clicking on any site URL on SharePoint I throws a below warning message:

Error: Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?

Reason for Occurrence: This issue occurs when some of external links were used on the site and those references allowed non-secure content to be downloaded when you browse you SharePoint site.

Resolution: Below is the resolution for not to get this warning message.

1.    Going to Tools->Internet Options->Security

2.    Select the Security tab

3.    Click on the Internet zone icon at the top of the tab page

4.    Click the Custom Level button

5.    In the Miscellaneous section change Display mixed content to Enable

6.    Repeat steps 1 – 5 for the Local intranet and Trusted sites zones.

If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know.

I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, thank you.

A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly: SharePoint 2010

Issue: We have a site collection which was using a JS query and some HTML tags in CEWP. When we browse the sites, it loads fine. The moment we click on Edit page from Site Actions. The page stopped responding and shows an error message:

Error: A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly.

Reason for Occurrence: Before going to any resolution we need to understand why this issue occurs. When programmers make mistakes, the computer user is given a choice to continue running the program (script) or not. Since these error notifications are about 99.99% programming related, there's not much you can do. Especially if you upgraded to IE7 by itself or Vista (which has IE7 as the default browser). This could be referred to as a IE related issue.

Resolution: There are many sites on internet which support multiple resolutions such as one below you can try.

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click Advanced.

4. Click to select the Disable script debugging check box.

5. Click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check box.

6. Click OK.

However, in my case increasing the script time-out amount in Internet Explorer by modifying a registry entry on specific client computers worked.

The KB Article supports that resolution is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500.

Wiki library save as template Missing: SharePoint 2010.

I got a request from the client to move the wiki library from one site collection from another site collection.

Suggestions: I suggested the following things:

Can map library as network drive and copy over the documents.

Can import the library using PowerShell and export it to another site.

Can save site as template and create a new library using the template by uploading it the template gallery on destination site.

Problem: However, I was amazed to know that ‘Save site Template’ option was depreciated from the Wiki Libraries in SharePoint 2010.

Resolution: This behavior is by default; however we have a workaround for this. Go to the "Document Library Settings" page.

You should see the URL address like this ".../listedit.aspx?List={GUID}", change the "listedit" to "savetmpl" and the URL look like this "../savetmpl.aspx?List={GUID}", now you will be able to save the library as a template.

This method is not recommended, but it works. If you have any workflow bound to the library then you may have some issues, but works fine if you just want to create a template for document settings, Columns and views.

If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know.

Error “Applying template "BICenterSite#0" to web at URL “when trying to create a Business Intelligence Center site.

Issue: Error “Applying template "BICenterSite#0" to web at URL “when trying to create a Business Intelligence Center site.

Error message: Applying template "BICenterSite#0" to web at URL.

ULS Logs View:

Troubleshooting:
Check if the PerformancePoint Features is activated on the site collection and Site level.

Deactivated and Activated the Performance Point features on site collection level and site level.

Tried to create a new site using some different  template.

Tried to create BI site at another site and no issue found.

Based on the correlation ID in USL logs found the error and checked on net and found that Performance Point Feature has high dependency on the Publishing features on the site collection and site level.

Resolution:

According to the error in the ULS Logs message, it seems that issue was caused by some features not activated. So tried to activate SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature at the site collection level and SharePoint Server Publishing, and then try to create the site again. It should work.

Unable to display this Web Part and Failed to render Field Created_x0020_Date, use default value instead: SharePoint 2010

Issue: As we have recently had a migration from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010. One of our clients has reported an issue with his Custom dashboard used with filters in the XLST data view webpart.

After the upgrade it randomly generates an error of

"Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator."

along with a correlation ID.

The ULS logs generated on the sharepoint server state "Failed to render field Created_x0020_Date, use default value instead".

Troubleshooting:

Checked the code from client perspective there is no change in the code.

Tried to replicate the issue on one of the test site by redesigning the page.

Have tried to alter the webpart zone it didn't help.

Resolution:

Have Goggled allot, however, only found one reference to the similar issue as of ours.

However Solution given in the KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2639184 has been tested in LAB and is working as expected.

I am very excited to implement this in production and have the issue resolved.

The file is currently checkout out or locked for editing by another user while delete a folder: SharePoint 2010

Issue: The file is currently checkout out or locked for editing by another user while delete a folder.

Background: One of my client was trying to delete a folder which was empty and when deleting throws above error message.

Troubleshooting:

Checked that the folder has multiple nesting i.e. there level of nesting.

Tried to delete the folder from root level, no success.

Tried to delete the folder from each nested folder level, no success.

Tried to upload a file on the last folder and delete the file it worked but unable to delete the folder.

Resolution: It seems to be an issue with the corrupt file check out. You always have the option to check-in back the files from the library which don’t have valid check in version. To do so:

Go to Library tools.

Library settings

Under Permissions and configuration tab – Choose to select the Manage files which have no checked in version.

Open the page; look for the folder/file name which you are trying to delete.

Check the box against and click take the ownership of the Selection.

Add a button to open the page in pop-up window: SharePoint 2010

I got a very strange request from the client. Where he has one button added on the SharePoint site and open that button is clicked it opens a Pop-Window and shows another HTML page or a image for guidance.

I this is may be possible with the magic of CEWP and yes there you go.

By adding the onclick="window.open function in the HTML code will help you add a button and open the reference page in new window.

E.G

Add the following code in the CEWP on your page:

Save the page and you will see the Button on the SharePoint site page:

Click on the page will open a new IE window, which will launch Google Search for you.

You can replace any link based on your own choices.

If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know.
